What is airis OS?
A local-first desktop app with three connected studios — Design, Code, and Team — that share one project so context never gets lost when you move between them. Design Studio is live today; Code Studio and Team Workspace are in development.
Is it free?
During early access, airis OS is free to use — see pricing for details. It's BYOK (bring your own key), so any AI usage costs come from the provider or CLI subscription you connect, not from us.
Which AI providers and CLIs work with it?
airis OS scans for local agent CLIs already on your machine — Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, and others — and offers them as ready-to-use runtimes. If you'd rather use your own API key directly, BYOK is supported through Settings.
Does my data leave my machine?
No. airis OS is local-first — your project files and memory live on your machine, and there's no telemetry. The only network calls are the ones you initiate: to whichever AI provider or CLI you've connected, using your own key or subscription.
How does licensing work?
airis OS is provided free of charge during early access, under the terms on our Terms of Use page. We'll communicate any change to that clearly before it happens — see the blog for dated updates.
What platforms will it support?
Windows, macOS, and Linux. airis OS isn't publicly downloadable yet — register your interest and we'll email you as builds become available.
How will updates work?
Through a self-hosted update channel we run ourselves, rather than an app-store gatekeeper. The app checks for and applies new versions itself once you have it installed — see releases for the current version and what changed.
Are AirisCode and AirisWorkteams available now?
Not yet. AirisDesign (Design Studio) is the studio in active use today. AirisCode and AirisWorkteams are in development — we'll announce progress on the blog.
Is there a public roadmap or way to get involved early?
Not a formal one yet. Register your interest and we'll reach out as opportunities to try new studios or give feedback open up.
What does "real file output" mean?
Work you do in airis OS produces actual files on disk — HTML, PDF, PPTX, source code — not a dead-end canvas locked inside the app. Your files stay yours.
